7 Things That Could Be Preventing Your Personal Growth

Your personal growth in life is so important. We all want to live our best lives and be the best version of ourselves but more often than not a lot of things can stand in the way of that. Today, I'm going to be running through 7 things that can prevent your personal growth and how to combat them.

For starters, there's fear. Fear can stand in our way as we may be too fearful to make an important life decision. In order to combat this you need to get to the root of the problem. Ask yourself what it is you're so afraid of and once you've acknowledged this, it should be a lot less scary. If all else fails, feel the fear and do it anyway.

Toxic Relationships:

Toxic relationships can really prevent your personal growth for a variety of reasons. After all, we can  only be as good as the company we keep and sometimes toxicity in relationships can prevent us from becoming the person we know we can be. If someone's unsupportive or you just have negative patterns, it may be time to take a second look at the relationship you have with them so you can grow and move on as a person.

Your Comfort Zone:

I've been meaning to write a post about why you should leave your comfort zone, but staying in your comfort zone can be very self-limiting. We learn most when we push the boundaries of our comfort zone.

Not Having Goals:

Setting goals is such a good way to ensure you're achieving all that you can achieve and excelling in life. If you don't already, try setting yourself some goals at the start of each month and see where it takes you.

Dwelling On The Past Or Worrying About The Future:

We only exist in the present moment, so dwelling on the past or worrying about the future is pretty much pointless. If you find you spend too much time doing one or the other, or both, try practising mindfulness and breathing exercises to bring you back into the present moment.

Putting things off is, of course, a sure-fire way to prevent personal growth. If you've got things that need your attention and need doing, try your best to get round to doing those and remember to practise self care in between.

Your mindset:

A negative mindset will never create a good life and if you're only seeing the negatives, you won't be able to see the opportunities and blessings that come your way, in effect preventing your personal growth. There are loads of ways you can improve your mindset, and I'll be doing a blog post on this pretty soon, but in the mean time, try writing a list of all the things you have to be grateful for. Gratitude always helps I find.
