Life Lately: Moving Forward


Sometimes I wonder if my life will always go at this slow pace, as I mentioned in my why I'm taking it slow this year post, I've been taking this year one step at a time, treading cautiously around my mental health and really trying to get myself feeling better. Well, I think it might have worked. I'm slowly starting to feel alive again, more real and more human. Now that my depression has *fingers crossed* gone away, I don't want to find myself slipping back into it's toxic embrace any time soon, I feel as though it's time to start thinking about the next steps.

It's strange, as just a few weeks ago I found myself in a rut, I felt like I was going nowhere and that it was all pointless, but now since I've started my course, I'm starting to feel like things are finally moving forward. I'm treading carefully, as I don't want to rush into anything and then experience a burnout - I've been there before and that feeling of failure is the worst, so I'm taking small steps every day to make my life better.

I'm no longer feeling the need to stay in bed all day, which is kind of my fall back when I'm in a low mood. I get into the pattern of thinking 'what's the point in staying awake anyway?' but now I find that there's so much I can do with my day.

My anxiety levels are becoming more and more manageable (I think I may do a post soon on learning to manage anxiety so I can share some of what I've learnt with you guys) and while I still do get shaky, my hands get all clammy and my breathing gets shallow, I'm finding it easier to be more mindful about situations that would normally result in me not leaving the house.

It's still early days yet, and of course I could just spiral back into feeling depressed, but I'm feeling hopeful that this is just the beginning and things are only going to get better from here on out.
