8 things to do when you're bored in life

Ok, so I'm going to be the first to admit it - I don't have a very exciting life. In fact, it can be quite boring at times. I'm not venturing off to new places, I'm not sipping cocktails on a Friday night and I'm not doing whatever else is current on social media. I'm about as far away from #goals as you can get.

My one gripe about social media is that everyone appears to be having the best time of their life, at least that's what our highlight reels *cough cough* Instagram, would have us believe, when that simply isn't the case. Anyway, that's a moan for another day, I'm not here to complain about my slightly boring day to day life, I'm here to give you tips on how to defeat that boredom and brighten up your day to day.

Start Journalling:

Keeping a journal can be a great way to express yourself, alleviate stress and it's nice to have something to look back on. I used to do this all the time, and it's something I'm considering doing again.

Take up a new hobby:

I feel like I preach this quite a lot, but picking up a new hobby is great for boredom. I've started sewing this year and find that creating stuff in this way makes me happy. Check out my 10 great new hobby ideas for 2019 to get you started.

Start a project:

Whether that's an art project or a DIY project - it's something to keep you occupied. You can even turn your project into a money-maker i.e by writing an e-book.

Start a blog:

You may think your life is boring but other people love to read about it and there's bound to be a topic you're passionate about like cooking, travel or beauty.

Do an online course:

Freshen up on your skills with an online course.

Challenge yourself to try something new each week/month.

Whether that's a new recipe or visiting a new place. By challenging yourself to try/do something new each week.month, you're giving yourself something to look forward to and this can help you step into a more positive mindset so you may even start viewing the things you do day to day as quite rewarding too, knowing you have something to save up for/look forward to in future.

Meet new people:

Meeting new people can help inspire and uplift us - try getting involved on twitter. The blogging community can be great on there. You could also check out local groups.

Live with more spontaneity:

Finally, be spontaneous. Sometimes sticking to a routine can be dull and the best times are had when unplanned.

That's all for today's post, let me know your thoughts and if you've got any tips on how to make your life more exciting then leave them in the comments below.
