It's Okay To Not Feel Productive

Over the past month or so, since this lockdown has been in place, I've been feeling particularly uninspired. It's not that I don't want to blog, I do, it's just that motivation and inspiration are lacking at this current time and I suppose I just wanted to pop on here and say, for anyone else who may be experiencing the same thing, that it's okay to not feel productive at this moment in time.

What we're all collectively going through is a very strange time, and so it's perfectly understandable why you might not feel like doing anything productive or creative.

I started out at the end of March by writing lists of things to do each day, determined to keep some sense of routine and stability, but a few weeks in and that had gone out of the window in favour of playing on The Sims 4 and re watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The days are kind of blurring into one another, and I'm not feeling productive in the slightest.

I had high hopes for this year when it came to my blog, I was planning on implementing five changes to the way I blog, but again, that seems to have gone out of the window. As I mentioned in my 'The Pressure To Be Productive' blog post a little while ago, I often feel pressured to be productive but I've taken the decision to not give in to such pressure during this time and if you're feeling like I am, you could probably do the same.

What I'm trying to say is that at this moment in time, what you feel you should be focusing on is not as important as making sure you're keeping safe and well and while doing things like making to do lists and keeping yourself occupied can help, they're not the be all and end all and it's okay to not feel productive.

I do hope to be back blogging again very soon, but I've got to take photos and stuff to attach to blog posts and I've run out of notebooks to use as props so for now, I'm taking a step back and learning to relax a bit more.

  1. I agree, some days are just harder to feel productive and sometimes it's good to take a breather!
