Why I'm taking it slow this year

10:00

It doesn't not matter how slow you go as long as you do not stop - My favourite quote ever.
I

had an awful year last year, in fact, it was a write off. However, onwards and upwards, and looking at the prospect of this year, I've decided I'm going to take it slow.
There are a number of reasons for this, the main one being for my mental health. If I rush things and go too quickly my mental health falls with it.

One thing I've learnt about myself is that I burnout easily. So, to avoid burnout, which leaves me anxious and depressed, and stay on top of my mental wellbeing, and really make the effort to look after myself, which is something I didn't do last year.

I've decided that I'm in no rush, everyone goes at their own pace in life, and this just happens to be my pace - as slow as a snail's until I'm in a more stable mindset.

I'll be taking this year week by week, like I said, I'm in no rush, and whatever happens happens. I'm taking on this attitude towards life = laid back - to avoid burnout wherever possible. My aim is to live more simply and find happiness in the things I doand if I were to do this in a rush I'd be sucking the joy right from it.

That doesn't mean I won't still be working hard with my blog and freelance writing career. I will be. I'm on schedule and have had over 10000 views over the past month, I'
m just in no hurry to make money from it and will keep persevering until that day comes.

  1. I'm like you. I burn out quickly. So while I'm creating blogging goals for myself, I'm not trying to push myself too hard. I blog for myself first and foremost. Otherwise, what's the point. If someone makes money, great. But for me, it's more about sharing the things I want to share, meeting new people and maybe even helping someone along the way.

  2. Well, I truly believe that everyone should go at their own pace. Others thoughts about how you slow or fast you are going should not really make a difference. It is entirely your choice. I'm glad that you are making it a point to take care of yourself. Kudos to you. Raheela James.

  5. Same! I got a burn-out a couple of years ago and from that moment I just live day by day. When I have a really good day, I do a lot. When I am not feeling like it, I just take care of myself and take it easy.

  6. I agree with this post so much, I’m often too hard on myself when I’m not going as fast-paced as others. But we shouldn’t compare ourselves and go at exactly the pace we want! Well done on you for opening up about it and allowing yourself to put your happiness first!

  8. I also burn out really easily if I put too much pressure on myself to do everything. I think you have a great approach, taking things slowly still gets you to where you need to be in the end, it's just less stressful. It's important to put our mental health first and take it easy when we need to. Thanks for sharing, and well done on the 10,000 views per month, that's so awesome! <3 xx

  9. I completely understand this! I literally took a forced hiatus from blogging later last year cause everything in life was rushing at me and I was trying to juggle too many things. I was constantly tired and honestly couldn’t wrap my head around everything and doing it all well. It’s important to know our limits and finding the best ways to deal with them. Take it easy and I pray things go your way and you get the breather you deserve. Take care of yourself hun, keeping a healthy mindset is vital. You got this!
