A letter to my 17 Year Old Self

I was worried about writing this post, thinking it may come across as too cheesy, but then I thought 'fuck it' let's do it anyway. So, here I am in December 2018, still breathing and still searching for the answer to the same question I've been asking for years. 'Why am I unhappy?'

A letter to my Seventeen year old self.

So, today I wanted to write a bit of a letter to my younger self, let's say, when I was 17, to explain why I'm still unhappy in the hopes that this may turn out to be the epiphany I've been waiting for in the search for happiness.

Dear you,

It hasn't been too long since you sat down and thought about your life, I guess it's a bit difficult to say how it's going at the moment. You've dropped out of college, and at the moment you're just dragging yourself across the floor in the hopes that things will get better at the same time though you feel completely at ease with drowning your sorrows.

Okay, maybe that was a bit brutal. I promise you, things are going to better. You've got a slippery slope, but things begin to pick up again.

You'll struggle, and at times you'll want to end it all, but keep going and hang on in there. It may be tough and you'll lose a lot of people along the way but hold those who remain dear to you as they're something to cherish.

That said, enjoy this age whilst it lasts, enjoy the memories of waste days, going across the country on your own for the first time to festivals, enjoy the house parties, the stupid memories with friends, make the most of them.

Don't give up blogging, however crap you think your writing is, people out there genuinely want to read what you've written and who knows, one day you might just get your writing published. Pick yourself up off the floor when all seems lost and don't give up hope that you'll reach 'happy' one day.

And whatever you do don't stop looking to the future, you have hopes and dreams of making it as a writer and a successful blogger so keep going.
